I mean, Lucky Ali.
Excuse my lame joke, unless you found it really funny 🙂
None of us can forget the year 2020 for the havoc it created in our lives. As things started to ease towards the 2nd half of the year, and travel opened, I soon found myself driving to Goa along with my family and friends.
One thing led to another, as it always happens in Goa, and by happenstance, I was at a place where Lucky Ali was performing for a small set of audience. Talk about being at the right place at the right time, and with the right gear.
I had just purchased a brand new Sigma 35mm F1.4 lens and was eager to experiment with it. To my luck, I had Lucky Ali as my subject 🤩, needless to say, I went ballistic with my camera.

Like any Bangalore kid in the ’90s, I grew up listening to Rock & Roll. Bollywood and Hindi songs somehow never caught my fancy. But Lucky Ali was different. A few of Lucky Ali’s songs hit the right spot around the mid-’90s. I still remember we all wanted to wear a blue denim shirt and matching blue jeans, just as he did in ‘O Sanam.’

Of course, wearing a blue overall is out of the question now😅. I guess only Lucky Ali can wear that and still look handsome! Watching him sing those beautiful songs with such passion felt surreal, given his influence on us as teens.

Lucky Ali is supported by a few really talented foks, be it Annada Prasanna Pattanaik on flute or Subash Pradhan on guitars.

I’ll cherish the evening for a long time to come along with being grateful to all the people who made that evening happen 🙏🏾
PS: That picture in Lukcy Ali’s wiki, you know who took that 🙂
